Frequently asked

In most sectors, yes. Some regulated sectors (for example mining, insurance, shipping and certain trading activities) have local-ownership rules, and we check these against your planned activities before registration.

A subsidiary is a separate Tanzanian company that limits the parent's liability and is often preferred for contracts and incentives. A branch is simpler to set up but exposes the parent directly. We recommend based on your contracts, tax position and exit plans.

BRELA blocks most transactions (annual returns, changes in particulars, status reports, registering charges) until the information is submitted, which can delay tenders, loans and licences.
